Lot 1211
1879. PCGS graded Proof 66. CAC. PQ. Boldly struck on all the devices and now toned with lovely bluish and russet hues on both sides. The fields show outstanding quality with nearly perfectly preserved mirror surfaces, while the devices show the delicate mint frost expected. This was the first "Proof only" year of the Trade dollar, where their circulation strikes were no longer coined after 1878. Curiously the Proof Trade dollars continued being struck until 1885. Only 1,541 struck, and this is one of the finer examples seen today. Pop 22; 6 finer in 67. (PCGS # 7059) Estimate Value $7,500 - 8,000

Lot 1212
1879. PCGS graded Proof 65. Lovely blue toning on both sides with deeper shades at the center and lighter golden rose around the rims. This is a proof only date, with just 1,541 pieces struck. This gorgeously toned gem is much nicer than the majority seen, even in this grade or finer for its elegant toning. Pop 38; 30 finer, 2 in 65+, 22 in 66, 6 in 67. (PCGS # 7059) Estimate Value $4,500 - 5,000

Lot 1213
1882. PCGS graded Proof 65 Cameo. A hint of light tone. Only 1,097 struck. The PCGS number on the holder is incorrect, should be 87062 to account for the Cameo designation. A Proof only issue and one which is scarce when found this well preserved. Pop 10; 14 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 87317) Estimate Value $5,000 - 5,500
